Film-Ocean, in partnership with STAPEM Group, has received an SMD Atom ROV, completing a fleet investment programme announced the previous year. Delivery was announced on September 3.

The Atom joins two 250 hp Quantum vehicles received between October 2025 and January 2026, bringing the company’s fleet to six SMD vehicles. The new model delivers 100 hp and is rated to operate at depths of up to 3,000 metres in a compact platform.

The equipment was selected for Boka Komodo, with mobilisation planned later in 2026 for a long-term opportunity in Angola. This remained a forecast at the time of the announcement, rather than confirmation that the campaign had begun.
